About the Author

Rogerio de Almeida Nogueira was born and raised in Brazil, just outside Sao Paulo. He started drawing at the age of 4 and hasn't stopped since then. After a brief basketball career he became a professional cartoonist drawing for magazines like MAD, Cracked (in Brazil it was called Pancada) and other publications in Sao Paulo.

In 1979 he moved to the USA to be closer to the Woodstock phenomenon. Settling first in the San Francisco Bay Area, he did some work with the underground comics industry and met many of the counterculture artists along with some remaining hippies from the late sixties.

A year later he moved to Los Angeles where he began drawing cartoons for a comic car magazine called CARtoons.  He also did an album cover illustration for Weird Al Yankovic's very first album, some article illustrations for different magazines and a short graphic novel for New York's Marvel Comics.

In 1985 he got into the animation industry working as a character designer for such studios as Warner Brothers, Walt Disney and Universal. For the next 25 years he created characters for TV animation productions like Steven Spielberg's "Animaniacs" and “Pinky & the Brain”,  “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and many others.

Today he's happy to be back to his own art, and thru his new business venture "PRESERVE THE GREEN PRODUCTIONS" he has created his lifetime dream "HIPPIE HOORAY The Woodstock Story", his first book of many more to come!
